The Art of Authentic Storytelling When Algorithms Filter Our World
How I'm learning to balance creativity with responsible technology use.
Anything can vanish at a moment's notice—relationships, opportunities, dreams…
If you have a teenager at home, the TikTok takedown might have ruined your week! Fortunately, we don't use TikTok in my house, but that doesn't mean we didn't feel the impact.
It was a reminder we should all keep in mind.
My kiddo is 13 years old, and I've successfully taught that social media isn't good for our mental health. Witnessing its effects firsthand, I receive frequent reports of the drama other kids are dealing with _after hours_ because of the all-access pass to their peers.
I'm a professional photographer with 20 years of experience. I KNOW how to lie with my camera. Social media lies! AI lies. All of these things are a 'percentage' of the truth.
As a photographer, I carefully curate the 'truth' I want to show the world. And social media is a tool for selectively curating our lives… showing the world the image we wish to project.
I'm diving deeper into the impact of photography and social media on our perceptions of ourselves. How this paradox of progress is tied to our mental health, our connections, and ultimately how we view ourselves.
Join me as I explore:
- The art of authentic storytelling in a filtered world
- Balancing creativity with responsible technology use
- Techniques for powerful, meaningful imagery
- Real connections vs. 'screen connections'
- How to create boundaries so YOU control media instead of it controlling you!
- Teaching the next generation 'digital citizenship'
Whether you're a client, fellow photographer, creative companion, or you simply stumbled across my feed—your story is part of this journey!
Together, we'll navigate the complexities of modern visual culture, share valuable tips, and gain insights along the way.
Let's regain our freedom from social media and take back the power and legacy of our photographs, one frame at a time.
Welcome friends!
xoxo- Adrienne
